Jun 29, 2023
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. (June 29, 2023) Indiana-based agricultural cooperative, Superior Ag announced today that Richard Lloyd will be the incoming President and CEO following Barry Day’s retirement on September 1.

Lloyd comes to Superior Ag from Valley Agronomics in Nampa, ID, where he has served as General Manager since 2007. Under Richard and his team's leadership, Valley Ag – an agronomy joint-venture partnership between Valley Wide Cooperative, Wilco Farmers, and Winfield United – grew from seven locations in one state to 35 locations across the Pacific Northwest.

“My family and I are very excited to be moving to Indiana and starting a new chapter with Superior Ag,” said Richard Lloyd, incoming President and CEO of Superior Ag. “The cooperative system is all about bringing great teams together to best serve our farmers' needs. I am committed to learning all that I can about Superior Ag, our members, and employees as we work together to serve and strengthen the cooperative and surrounding communities.”

Lloyd started in the cooperative system in 2002 as an Account Manager for Agriliance (now Winfield United). Throughout his career, he has worked in customer service, distribution, sales and management. He is passionate about supporting farmers with essential products and services, while strengthening the farmer-owned business.

“We are thrilled to welcome Richard Lloyd to Superior Ag as our next President and CEO,” shared Pat Messmer, Chairman of Superior Ag’s Board of Directors. “He is very customer and employee-oriented and brings a wealth of knowledge from his 20-year career in the cooperative system. The Board of Directors and I are excited about his vision for the future of Superior Ag.”

Lloyd currently resides in Fruitland, ID with his wife, Jennifer and their five children. He, and his family, will be moving to Indiana in the coming month and will be joining the Superior Ag team on August 1 to work with Day on his transition prior to retiring on September 1.

“The Superior Ag Board appreciates Barry’s many years of service,” adds Messmer. “He has been a great leader for Superior Ag the last 13 years, and we wish him the best in his next chapter of retirement.”
